James Gruener
President

Jamie has worked in the desktop support industry since 1992. After graduating from Franklin & Marshall College with a degree in Philosophy in 1994, he moved to the Triangle area and established a reputation as one of the area’s top IT generalists. He started Norton Street after the Internet bubble burst in late 2001. Having earned his Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) in 1997, he’s always in on-the-job training. “The MCSE is nice to have in your back pocket, but it won’t reboot a server by itself.” Jamie’s ability to communicate highly technical information with Web developers, end users, and service providers makes him unique in the field. His ability to solve complex problems efficiently and with a sharp eye on the bottom line makes him highly desired in this market.

He built digital pre-press technology infrastructures for several pre-press and printing companies, hiring and training staff and focusing on error-free performance and high output. As a management consultant he has implemented Balanced Scorecard and other self-sustaining performance management systems for large companies including Gerdau Ameristeel, Dayton Power and Light, and Siltronic AG, a silicon wafer manufacturer.

Thomas Nickles
It Support and Web Developer

During high school, Thomas created course Web sites for faculty members of Wake Forest University's Babcock School of Management.  Two years later after studying Computer Science at North Carolina State University, he transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his degree in Psychology.  After graduating he enjoyed working as a carpenter before going on to manage IT for Duke University's Department of English and later for Merge Records.  Thomas has always loved working with both people and computers and pays as much attention to communication as he does technology.  He is a big proponent of open source technologies that yield tools to make online applications work smarter and faster.
